Majid Al Futtaim launches its annual heart health campaign ‘Feel the Beat’ to raise awareness on cardiovascular disease in the UAE

Complimentary heart testing for women across all shopping malls in the UAE

Majid Al Futtaim - the leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia - is hosting its regional health awareness campaign ‘Feel the Beat’ delivering complimentary heart health testing to women. The month-long campaign in Majid Al Futtaim’s shopping malls in the UAE aims to spread awareness on cardiovascular disease for prevention and early detection in partnership with Dubai Health Authority, Majid Al Futtaim Charity Foundation and City Centre Clinic.

This September and October, visitors of malls in the UAE including Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif, City Centre Me’aisem, City Centre Al Shindagha, My City Centre Al Barsha, City Centre Ajman, City Centre Fujairah, City Centre Sharjah, My City Centre Nasseriya, Matajer Al Juraina and Matajer Al Mirgab will be able to get complimentary check-ups by healthcare professionals on site. The first testing camp at City Centre Deira ended this weekend, with the next scheduled for September 18 until 20 at City Centre Me’aisem.

In line with our vision to create great moments for everyone, everyday, we are proud to host another ‘Feel the Beat’ campaign across our shopping and lifestyle destinations reaching thousands of visitors and raising awareness on cardiovascular disease throughout the region. Together with our partners, we look forward to empowering visitors to make informed decisions about their health”, said Ibrahim Al-Zu’bi, Head of Sustainability at Majid Al Futtaim – Holding.

Ghanim Al Lootah, Director of Institutional Marketing and Communications Department at Dubai Health Authority, said: “This campaign supports the Dubai Health Authority’s strategy to spread awareness and educate the public about heart disease and the risks associated with it, especially among women. The authority has ongoing initiatives with various government institutions and private organisations to achieve a healthier and happier society.”

All participating shopping malls will have allocated areas to host medical professionals who will administer complimentary heart health tests and conduct check-ups for women. At each designated location, visitors will be able to check their blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and Body Mass Index (BMI) to determine if they are at risk of heart diseases and if they would require a follow-up consultation for further analysis.

Women can follow the campaign, learn about cardiovascular disease and pledge to do more for their hearts by visiting the malls’ websites and on social media by using the #signwithyourheart and #FeeltheBeat hashtags.

Last year, more than 10,000 women participated in Majid Al Futtaim’s ‘Feel the Beat’ regional health awareness campaign. This year, participants are encouraged to visit the following                  Majid Al Futtaim shopping malls for testing and check-ups:

Majid Al Futtaim Charity Foundation — which has launched a program called “Start Making All the Right Turns” focusing on the prevention of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, obesity and diabetes—will be partnering with Feel the Beat to offer kids plenty of fun activities and health education.
